The Alta Via del Tabacco (AVT) is a route, which runs across the slopes of the Asiago Plateau, along the orographic right side of the Brenta Valley, connecting the various existing paths.
It is often described also as "The Diffused Museum of Alta Via del Tabacco", with the intention not to limit ourselves only to the simple excursion side of the trip, but to understand the role of the same height of settlements and terraces, allowing residents the minimum of social life, which their hard work allowed them to enjoy.
"Del Tabacco" comes from the revolution, which led to the cultivation of the plant in the poor economy of the Canal around the second half of the seventeenth century. Its centuries-long cultivation is now virtually extinct, but its memory remains in the characteristic terraces supported by high stone walls, called by the locals the "masiere", built entirely by hand. In the hope that those "patches of land" could generate income.
The path can be divided into three parts, each of which can become an enclosed loop through the downhill descent (always identified on the main path) and the ascent to the starting point along the river of Brenta.
