On the day of the Immaculate Conception, the inhabitants of Crespadoro and the surrounding municipalities take to the streets for the 31st "Festa dei corgnoi" (The Snails Festival) dedicated to a unique local product, the lumache, called frequently the "corgnoi", i.e. snails with large shells. It is an ancient tradition, as some will recognize there the food habits of the Cimbri, the people of Germanic origin that colonized these mountains in the Middle Ages. The party of 8th December has always represented the apotheosis for snails which are collected during mid autumn.
