Villa Velo Zabeo in Velo d'Astico is owned by the province of Vicenza. In terms of landscape it is located in a rather interesting position, close to the town and at the same time sufficiently isolated from it; nestled on a scenic plateau and surrounded by an extensive park. The origin of the villa is very remote: it was built by the counts of Velo, a noble and powerful local family, near an ancient medieval fortress the remains of which are still visible on a nearby hill.
The monumental complex was built in 1752, commissioned by Count Girolamo di Velo. It is a set of objects consisting of three buildings, which present different characteristics, while being coherent with each other, and constitute an exceptional architectural gem, further enriched by a green complex of great effect: the historic garden and its beautiful park with a fish pond; the massive building from the fifteenth century; the long eighteenth-century wing accompanied on the west by the Italian garden; and the porch with a dovecote which concludes the courtyard. All these are topped by the chapel located in front of the entrance.
